Billy pulled into the parking lot adjacent to the agency. As he parked his car, a long black limousine pulled up behind him. The window rolled down and a familiar voice called out to him. “Billy, Billy Melrose!”

The chauffeur opened the door and out stepped the most beautiful lady Billy could ever remember meeting. She looked as though she had just stepped out of the page of a fashion magazine and as far as he remembers Lee telling him; she always looked as if she was just about to have a photo shoot. She has the most incredible legs and a figure most women could only dream about. Her long golden blonde hair flowed around her face softly accenting the most beautiful blue eyes. Billy couldn’t help but stare. She had it all brains and beauty and money. The only thing she didn’t have was Lee. They had dated for a while and were becoming quite close when Lee volunteered for an assignment in Europe. Billy was sure that Samantha had something to do with Lee’s decision. It was when he was gone that she met and married Franklin Evans. Franklin was a millionaire and owned a large company that had government contracts. Franklin had died six months earlier in a plane crash. The police had suspected his partner, Jefferson Langley, although nothing could be proven.

“Billy, Billy are you there?” She asked. Billy was daydreaming.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Samantha, how are you?”

“How are you?? That’s it? Billy, we’re old friends.” She hugged Billy and gave him a kiss. Billy returned the hug.

“How are you doing? I’m very sorry to hear about Franklin.” Billy said.

“Thank You, Billy. I was really lost when he passed away but I knew he would hate it if I sat around and moped. He had taught me everything about his company and expected me to take over for him. So that’s what I’m doing; running his company.”

“Well, if you ever need anything, please feel free to call me.” Billy smiled.

“That’s precisely why I’m here. I’m looking for Lee. Does he still work here? I tried his phone number at home but they said it wasn’t working. Is he still over seas?” Samantha waited for Billy to answer.

“Yes, he’s here.” Billy answered but before he could finish Samantha interrupted.

“Larry, park the car. Let’s go, Billy.” Samantha took him by the arm and led him to IFF.

Billy knew that Samantha had some government clearance due to the nature of her company; still he didn’t want to take her down to his office. So he took her to Lee’s. He was sure that Amanda would understand; he hoped. Lee was at his desk talking on the phone when Billy and Samantha walked in.

“Lee, darling, how are you?” She walked up to him and gave him a long kiss. Lee almost forgot that Amanda was on the other end of the phone. When he realized he told her that Billy had just come in and he would call her later.

“So, where have you been hiding yourself, Lee?” She asked sitting in the chair by his desk. Lee found himself staring at her. He had forgot just how beautiful she was. Forget it Lee you’re married; he reminded himself.

“Nowhere special.” Lee answered, “Just working.”

“Oh, come on now, the Lee I remember didn’t believe in all work. That makes Jack, I mean Lee a dull boy.” She smiled at Lee.

“Samantha, I heard about Franklin. I know I should have called but..” Lee started.

“I know our last meeting wasn’t the most pleasant.”

“Well, I better get to work. If you need me I’ll be in my office. Samantha, it was wonderful seeing you again. And I meant what I said, if you need anything just call.” Billy kissed her on the cheek and started to leave.

“There is one thing, Billy. Now I don’t want you to think I went over your head but when I saw Dr. Smith at the party last night, I asked him to help with my problem. He said the agency would be glad to help especially if it would help get those orders to the pentagon on time.”

“What ever you want.” Billy smiled as he looked at a very uncomfortable Lee.

“He said Lee would be overjoyed to help me.” Samantha smiled at Lee. “That’s if it’s not too much trouble, Lee.”

Lee started to answer, “To tell you the truth..”

Billy interrupted, “Lee would be more then happy to help.”

“Good, I’ll need you at my estate in Baltimore around three this afternoon. Don’t forget your tux. I’m having some people for the weekend and I really think that my partner will try something. I think he had something to do with Franklin’s death.”

Lee looked at Billy but it was no use he was stuck. There was no way out.

Samantha and Billy walked out of the office and Lee dialed his house, “Amanda, hi. I’ve got a problem. I have to go to Baltimore this weekend. Dr. Smith volunteered me.

No, I couldn’t tell it was our anniversary. I’m sorry, love.”

“Lee, it’s alright. We can change our plans until next week.” Amanda was a little too understanding for Lee. He was mad.

“Amanda, I don’t want to wait until next week. This is our second anniversary and we have some kind of interruption every year. Even our honeymoon didn’t go as expected. This is getting as bad as our Christmas Eves.”

“I love you. Lee, hurry home and we can celebrate a little before you need to go.”

“Amanda, I need to tell you something. I’m going to be staying at Samantha Evans’ estate in Baltimore. Her husband died six months ago and she afraid of her partner. She’s having a few friends over and he’s one of them.”

Amanda was quiet for a few minutes and then said, “Your wasting time, Mr. Stetson.”

Lee smiled, “I’ll be right there.”

Lee drove to Samantha’s estate alone. He had time to think about what he was missing this weekend. He had planned to take Amanda to that French restaurant that just opened around the corner from the agency. Francine raved about it. Then he planned to go dancing and back home where everyone was away. Next weekend wasn’t good enough.

When Lee arrived at the estate Samantha greeted him personally. She showed him to his room, which was right across from hers. They walked the grounds and talked for a while, well Samantha talked. Lee didn’t listen.

“After I have the snowman jump out of the pool, we will play pin the tail on the donkey.”

Samantha said knowing full well that Lee wasn’t listening.

“That’ll be nice.” Lee said. He continued walking about three feet before he realized that Samantha wasn’t walking with him. He stopped and looked at her.

“Who is she?” Samantha asked.

“Who’s who?” Lee answered.

“The lovely lady that has you in her hold.”

“I don’t know what you are talking about.”

“Lee, how long do we know each other?”

“I guess about 8 years or so.”

“Don’t you think I know when you are here with me and when you are not? Lee, I love you, I’ll always love you but I’m not in love with you. I want protection this weekend, here, and I can’t have it if you are in DC.”

Lee sighed, “I’m sorry, Samantha. I had to disappoint someone this weekend.”

She finished, “Someone you care a great deal about?”

Lee grinned, “Yes.”

“Give me the details. Where did you meet? What does she look like? When did you two get married?” Lee cut her off.

“Married. Who said I was married.”

Samantha smiled, “Don’t wear you wedding band to the beach.”

Lee looked at his hand. There was a very faint mark where his wedding band had been. “Dr. Smith doesn’t know. I’m afraid that if he did he wouldn’t let Amanda work with me anymore.”

“Don’t worry, Lee, your secret is safe with me. I love you. I tolerate Dr. Smith.”

Lee smiled, “Thanks.”

“So, her name is Amanda. She works for the agency. Where did you meet?”

“At a train station. It’s a long story.”

“So, Lee, is she glamorous? Mysterious? Exciting? You’re typical spy?”

Lee looked at Samantha and knew she had to know the whole story. “She was a divorced housewife from Arlington who lives with her two boys and her mother. She does scouts, PTA, bake sales and takes her boys camping. She is a wonder mother and a fabulous wife and partner. I can’t believe I found anyone as wonderful as her.”

“I can’t believe you got married.”

The butler walked up to Samantha and announced that the guests were arriving. She excused herself and went to greet them. After she said her hello’s she retreated to her study to make a call.

“Billy Melrose, why didn’t you tell me about Amanda?” Samantha spoke as soon as Billy answered the phone.

“That is not part of agency..”

She cut him short, “I don’t care. I want her phone number. I can find it if you don’t tell me. It will just take a little longer.”

Billy sighed, “Why do you need it?”

Samantha frowned, “Billy, if he does his best work with his partner why is he alone?”

Billy gave her Lee’s phone number.

Samantha dialed the phone and waited for someone to answer. Then a soft voice answered, “Hello?”

“Hello, my I please speak to Amanda.”

“This is she.” Amanda said.

“Amanda, you don’t know me but my name is Samantha Evans.”

“Yes, Lee has mentioned you.”

“He has mentioned you, too, no he has talked about you quite a bit. I really need him this weekend but he needs you. So I thought I would surprise him and send my limo for you. Can you be ready for it in an hour? Please say you’ll come.” Samantha waited for Amanda’s response.

“Would it be faster if I met him half way?” Samantha smiled at Amanda’s answer.

Amanda gave her their address and started to get ready. She hoped Lee wouldn’t be angry with her for showing up like this.

The limo arrived and Amanda was on her way.

Lee went up to his room to change for dinner. He tried again to call Amanda again but there still was no answer. He was starting to worry. What if something happened?

Just then there was a knock on the door and Lee walked over and opened it. Samantha stood there smiling. She was dressed in a red evening gown. She danced into the room turning so Lee could see her better. “Well, Lee, what do you think? It was Frank’s favorite.”

“It’s very nice.”

“Nice! I think it’s beautiful!” Amanda said as she rushed into Lee’s arms.

“Amanda!” Lee pulled her close and kissed her. Samantha stood there for a second and then excused herself.

“Wait. Thank You.” Lee smiled.

“Happy Anniversary.” Samantha said as she closed the door.

As Amanda and Lee dressed for dinner, he explained what was going on.

"Her husband’s partner, who is now her partner, Jefferson Langley is trying to force Samantha to sell her half of the business."

“That’s so sad.” Amanda said.

“What? She’s worth several million dollars.”

“No, that not what I mean. She has the money but she’s alone. She has no one to lean on. Too bad they never had children.”

Lee smiled at her, “Now that what I want to know.”

Amanda looked up at him from the vanity, “What?”

Lee walked over to Amanda and turned her chair to face him as he knelt beside her on one knee, “What are we waiting for?”

“Lee, in our line of work, a baby wouldn’t fit in.”

“Then let’s get out of our line of work.”

“What? Slow down, Stetson. You need to think about this.”

“No, we need to think about this, Amanda, I want a family, a house full of kids, a dog and horses. I want dinner with my family and picnics and bake sales. I want to play baseball with my kids in the back yard. I want to listen to their problems and watch them grow. I want it all; with you.”

Lee had hold of her arms and pulled her close to him. Amanda put her hands on his face and drew it closer for a long kiss.

“I want that too.” She said when they took time for a breath.

Lee smiled, “How hungry are you?”

He picked Amanda up and carried her to the bed.

“Ooooh. Lee, slow down. When have to go down to dinner, soon.”

“They will never miss us.”

“Samantha will. She is counting on us.”

Lee rolled over on his back, defeated.

Amanda laughed.

They kiss and finished dressing.

When they went down to dinner, everyone was starting to go into the dining room. Samantha started introductions.

“Everyone, this is Lee and Amanda Stetson. Lee and I have been friends for a very long time and I just met his lovely bride. By the way, they are newlyweds. So if we find them scarce we will understand.” Amanda blushed and so did Lee, a little. Leave it to Samantha to think of a good cover so no one would be suspicious while they investigated.

“Lee, Amanda, these are some of my dearest friends. This is Senator John and Debbie Watson. My lawyer Ralph Thompson and his lovely wife Maria. Dr. Martin and Angela Simmons. The Bakers, Harry and Elaine. This is my partner, Jefferson Langley and his friend, Tonya Price. And Dr. Smyth, an old and dear friend who decided the grace us with his presents.”

Lee and Amanda froze. Dr. Smyth started to walk toward them but went right past Amanda and Lee as if he never met them before. He took Samantha’s hand and kissed it.

“What she means to say is I crashed the party. After all, Samantha, you need a partner.”

“How kind of you.” She smiled at him but raised her eyes to Lee.

After dinner Amanda and Lee walked out to the terrace and watched the moon over the water. He held her close and the scent of her perfume made him hold her closer. They turned to each other and kissed.

“Very good cover, Scarecrow, I could almost believe that you were newlyweds.”

Dr. Smyth was standing in the doorway watching them. As he strolled over to them he added, “Your performance is very convincing.”

Lee wanted to say something but didn’t. Amanda could see Lee’s jaw working. Dr. Smyth could fire both of them or make life miserable for them at work.

“Scarecrow, I have been watching you two for sometime. You do know the regulations regarding partners. An agent cannot give his all to his job if he has emotional ties to his partner. You know what I mean?”

Lee tighten his grip on Amanda’s arm. He knew.

“Yes.” Lee answered.

“Leave them alone, Smithy.” Samantha answered. “I think they would make a lovely couple. Don’t you?”

“I don’t like lovely couples. Especially when they break my rules.”

“As I remember you were quite a rule breaker in your day.”

“You didn’t know me back then.” Dr. Smyth answered.

“No, Franklin did. In fact he would talk on the subject for hours. He lived quite a colorful life but you know that especially around college time. I believe that is when you two met. You know Franklin has several diaries. He had planned to write a book sometime. Now I guess it’s up to me. What do you think, Smitty?” Samantha looked at Dr. Smyth.

“I think those books are best burnt.” He answered solemnly.

“Than what would you & I have to discuss while Lee and Amanda are out fighting the KGB and such?”

“I don’t like to be blackmailed!”

Samantha look became serious, “Blackmail? I think if you find love you should reach out and grab it with both hands and hold on for dear life. They are a team and they will stay a team no matter what and Franklin’s diaries will stay for my eyes-only.”

“I must play chess with you sometime, Samantha. I think I may have met my match. Scarecrow, do not let this situation interfere with your job at the agency or I will take the stuffing out of you.” He stormed back into the house.

“I owe you again, Samantha.” Lee kissed her on the cheek.

“I did that for you as much as myself. I always wanted to have one on old Smitty.”

She turned to Amanda, “I am so happy that Lee has you. Cherish him, Amanda, and, Lee, you do the same. Life is too short. Treat each day as if it might be your last.”

She turned and went into the house.

“She’s right.” Lee said as he pulled Amanda close to him. “Let’s promise never to let a fight interfere in our life. Say what needs to be said and forget it.”

“I agree.” They kissed.

The next morning Lee convinced Amanda to go horseback riding with him. The Senator and his wife joined them. After the ride they joined everyone by the pool. Lee talked with the Senator, Dr. Smyth, and Dr. Simmons about the stock market. Ralph, Maria, Harry and Elaine were playing bridge. Debbie was talking to Amanda, Samantha and Angela about her favorite charity, Children with Aids.

“Debbie, count me in. As long as I’m not working that day I’ll be glad to help.” Amanda said.

“Amanda, that’s wonderful. Do you think you could get IFF to film something? We could use it for advertising.” Debbie asked.

“I’ll ask my boss.” Amanda said, “I’ll call you next week.”

“Good, we can do lunch.” Debbie said. Samantha was very quiet.

“Angela, I’ll race you to the other end of the pool.” Debbie challenged her.

“You’re on.” While they were having a race Amanda sat next to Samantha.

“A penny for your thoughts.” Amanda asked her.

“I’d have to give you change. Amanda, I’m scared.” Samantha confided in her new friend.

“Lee’s here. He’ll take care of you.” Amanda tried to reassure her.

Jefferson and Tonya joined them by the pool for lunch. Amanda and Lee disappeared into the house to check the safe. Everything was fine.

After lunch Dr. Smyth announced that he would be leaving to attend a dinner party at the French embassy. Lee and Amanda felt more relaxed with him gone. The Senator and his wife also left to attend the same party. Everyone else except for Jefferson and Tonya spent the afternoon just lounging around the pool. Lee was rubbing suntan lotion on Amanda’s back as he kissed her neck.

“I really think that you are enjoying our cover.” Amanda laughed. She was sure she was enjoying it just as much.

“At least it’s a cover that I don’t have to remind myself to stay in character.” Lee turned so Amanda could put lotion on him. “It’s nice to be able to act like lovers even with Dr. Smith watching.” Lee added.

“Lee, have you noticed how Jefferson and Tonya seem to disappear if we’re not eating?”

“I’ve been watching that too. I think I will check the house. You stay here and keep an eye on Samantha.” Amanda nodded as Lee reached down and gave her a long kiss before he turned and walked to the house. Amanda watched him as he walked away. Then she reminded herself she needed to turn her attention to Samantha. She looked around to where she had been sitting but she was gone. Amanda walked over to Elaine and asked where Samantha had gone.

“I believe she went into the house.” Elaine said.

“Thank you.” Amanda replied. She turned and went into the house. As she walked though the open door Lee was coming out.

“Amanda, I thought you were watching Samantha.” Lee said.

“Elaine said she came into the house.”

“No, I haven’t seen her.” Lee looked out to the pool and added, “Where did Harry go?”

“I don’t know?” Amanda couldn’t believe that she lost Samantha and Harry. Maybe their cover was too distracting. “Did you find Jefferson and Tonya?”

“No, there not in their room or anywhere else in the house.”

Amanda and Lee sat by the pool watching to see who came back from where. Shortly Samantha returned from the direction of the stables and a few minutes later Harry returned the same way. Lee and Amanda exchanged looks. Jefferson and Tonya didn’t return until everyone was sitting down to dinner.

“It’s too bad you missed the lovely afternoon by the pool.” Amanda said to Tonya.

“Oh, I don’t like to swim. Jefferson and I like to take walks. Samantha’s property is so beautiful I could walk it for hours.” She said as she glanced at Jefferson.

After dinner Lee and Amanda walked in the garden.

“Did you buy her story?” Amanda asked Lee.

“No, she doesn’t look the nature walk type.”

“What about Samantha and Harry? Elaine obviously lied to me.”

“Maybe or maybe she has no idea.”

“You don’t think Samantha is having an affair with Harry?” Amanda acted shocked.

Lee smiled at her, “Things like that have been known to happen, Amanda.”

She hit him in the stomach with the back of her hand. He laughed at her.

“Amanda, you’re too good. Just because you would never think of it doesn’t mean no one else would.” He pulled her close.

“I know that.” She tried to act annoyed.

“Well, that’s one of the things I really love about you.”

“What?” She asked.

“That I know that I can trust you completely; without question. I have your love, all your love. And you have mine.”

Amanda pulled Lee closer to her and laid her head on his shoulder. She felt very safe in his arms and she knew he would give his life for her without hesitation. She knew she would do the same for him. Lee took a step back and lifted Amanda chin with his finger. He put his lips to hers and gave her a long kiss. He was amazed that after two years of marriage that her kisses stilled stirred up the feeling in him that their first kiss had.

After everyone had gone to bed Lee and Amanda did a sweep of the house. Everything was fine.

The next morning was their last day there. Everyone came down for brunch by the pool.

Harry and Elaine were the first to leave. Then Jefferson and Tonya left. Dr. Simmons took a couple of laps around the pool before he went up to change and pack. The Thompson’s and the Simmons’s left together. Amanda and Lee hung around the library until everyone left. Lee and Samantha checked the safe everyone was fine. Amanda was almost done packing when Lee came into their room.

“Everything was in the safe. I guess this weekend was a false alarm.” Lee said as he plopped on the bed. Amanda recognized the look on his face.

“What’s the matter?” She asked.

"I had wanted to spend the weekend alone with you instead we spent more time babysitting. Do you think we could ever have a normal anniversary or Christmas Eve?”

“Did you ever think that maybe this is normal for us?” Amanda sat next to him.

“I can’t believe that I’m saying this but I don’t want this to be normal. I’ve had this all my life. I want your normal not mine.” Lee pulled her down on the bed next to him.

“Then let’s tell everyone of our marriage, my mother, the boys and everyone at the agency. Let the chips fall where they may, if we need to leave the agency, we will.”

“Sounds like a good idea to me. Let’s go.” Lee kissed her. He picked up the bags and Amanda took the suit bag.

“I’ll put this in the car, then I’ll come back and say goodbye to Samantha.” Amanda said.

“I’ll make one more check of the safe.” Lee put the suitcases by the front door and went down the hallway to the library. He opened the door and there was Jefferson with the safe opened. He was going through the papers. Lee reached for his gun and so did Jefferson.

“Put down the gun, Jefferson.” Lee said.

“I think it would be wise for you to do it, Mr. Stetson. Look behind you.”

Lee felt the tip of a gun in his back. He lower his gun and Tonya took it. Jefferson motioned to Lee to move away from the door. He picked up the papers he wanted and put them next to his brief case.

“Tonya, go bring the car around front.” She nodded and left.

Amanda was putting the bag in the car when she saw Samantha go around to the stables. Amanda decided to follow her. She quietly came around the side of the stables and came in the back door.

“Franklin, I was sure that Jefferson would do something this weekend. I still don’t trust him.” Samantha was in Harry arms.

“Samantha, I think we should tell Lee everything. I’ll have to become alive again. I don’t like being dead.”

“I need to get back to home, Franklin.” Elaine said.

Harry smiled at her, “Thanks for being my wife for the weekend.”

“What are sisters for?” Elaine said.

Amanda realized that why they had twin beds in their room. Harry must be Franklin with a beard and mustache and a little weight loss. Good cover but why?

“Franklin, let me go in and tell Lee first. After we broke up I know he hated me. I don’t want that again.”

“I’ll give you five minutes but then I’m coming in to talk to him.” Franklin kissed her and she left the stable. Amanda started to follow her but her foot knocked over a bucket and Franklin pulled a gun and pointed at Amanda.

“Amanda, what are you doing here?” He asked.

“Harry, you’re really Franklin?” Amanda said as she walked over to Harry and Elaine.

“Yes, I thought we could trap Jefferson but it didn’t work. I wasted Lee’s and your time. I’m sorry. Amanda, this is my sister Elaine.”

“So you did lie to me when I asked where Samantha had gone yesterday?” Amanda laughed.

“I had a good reason.” Elaine put her arm around her brother’s waist.

“I understand.” Amanda said. “I think we better go and talk to Lee.”

Samantha opened the door to the library and stopped. Jefferson stood there with a gun on Lee.

“Jefferson, what do you think you are doing?” She demanded.

“Come join our little party. This one is by invitation only.”

Jefferson Langley stood holding a gun on Lee and Samantha.

“No one asked you to interfere, Mr. Stetson. I will have it all. All I need to do is get rid of Samantha, your wife and you; then there will be no one else that knows. Now where is your lovely wife?”

“I sent her back to DC.” Lee answered.

Jefferson grabbed Samantha by the hair. “You have become a thorn in my side. If only you sold me your company when Franklin died you would have saved you life and that of Mr. Stetson.” He pushed her at Lee. He caught her.

“Sit down, Mr. Stetson.” Then he threw a rope to Samantha, “Tie him up.” She did as she was told and then he tied Samantha to a chair behind Lee. Jeffery put tape on Lee and Samantha’s mouth. He picked up his brief case and opened it on the table. He took out a bomb. Jeffery set the time and turned to Lee and Samantha, “I had a lovely time this weekend. I wish we could do it again sometime. It’s a shame you two are going away. Ciao.” He put the papers in his case and left, locking the door behind him.

Amanda was coming around from the back of the house with Franklin and Elaine as Tonya pulled the car up to the front of the house.

“Franklin, I’ll go around to the other side of the house so we can come at them from both sides. You distract them and I will get the drop on them.”

“Be careful, Amanda.”

When Jefferson came out the front door, Franklin came out of the bushes.

“Are you in a hurry?” Franklin asked him. Jefferson pulled his gun on Franklin.

“I thought you were dead. I guess I will have to do it again.” Jefferson raised his arm to shoot.

“Freeze!” Amanda yelled. “Toss your gun over here.” Jefferson did as he was told.

“Now the gun that’s in you belt.” Once again Jefferson did as he was told.

“Franklin, take the guns.” Amanda handcuffed them each to the car.

“Keep an eye on our friends. I’ll check on Lee and Samantha.” Amanda went into the house.

“Lee, Lee!!” She called. There was no answer. Amanda walked back by the entrance of the library. “Lee! Lee!” She called again. There was a banging from the other side of the door. Amanda tried the door but it was locked. She pulled out her lock-pick kit and unlocked the door. She opened it to see Lee and Samantha bound together.

“Lee!” She started to run to him but stopped when she saw the bomb. The time was counting down. There was less than a minute left.

“Oh my gosh!” Amanda tried to decide if she could defuse the bomb but it had too many blue wires. She grabbed the bomb and ran to the window and threw it outside breaking the glass. It went off in the garden, throwing flowers and plants everywhere.

“Sorry about your flowers, Samantha.” Amanda said as she untied Lee then Samantha.

“Amanda, you were wonderful.” Samantha said.

“Franklin is keeping an eye on Jefferson and Tonya.” Amanda said.

“Franklin?” Lee asked.

“Yes, he’s alive Lee. I’m sorry. I know I should have told you.” She said as they ran out of the house. Several cars pulled up in front of the estate. Billy ran up to the house with several agents and arrested Jefferson and Tonya.

Samantha rushed to Franklin and they embraced.

“Lee, this is Franklin and his sister Elaine. Franklin this is Lee.” They shook hands.

“You’ll find all the evidence you need in his briefcase, Billy.” Lee handed the case to Billy.

“Good work, Amanda and Lee.” Billy said.

Lee and Amanda were in the Q-bureau. Amanda was typing the report from the weekend on Lee’s computer. He was standing behind her reading it as she typed.

“Anything else you want to add?” Amanda asked Lee without turning around.

He smiled, “Yes, I love my wife and I still owe her a honeymoon.”

Amanda turned to Lee and stood up. They hugged and kissed.

“We’ll get one someday.”

“I don’t want someday! I want it now. You should have had a wonderful honeymoon.”

Lee hugged her tighter.

“I have you, I don’t need a honeymoon.” Amanda kissed him.

“I do.” Lee said.

There was a knock at the door and Amanda sat down before the door opened.

It was Franklin and Samantha.

“Hi. Billy said we could come up here and thank you for everything that you have done for us.” Franklin said. “You were both wonderful. I don’t know how to thank you.”

“All in a day’s work.” Amanda said.

“Lee, I am so happy that you found her. She is so good for you. I have never seen you happier. I mean really happy and at peace. She took away that wall that you used to keep yourself away from truly loving anyone or letting anyone love you.”

Lee smiled, “Are you analyzing me?”

“She does that a lot.” Franklin said.

“No, Lee, I’m saying the truth.” Samantha kissed Lee on the cheek.

“Well, I know how I can thank you. My plane is at you disposal and my place in the Bahamans is available for you for the next two weeks.”

“Thanks, that’s very kind of you but we can’t get the time off.” Lee said.

“Yes, you can. We have arranged it with Billy.” Samantha smiled.

“Thank you.” Amanda stood and gave Samantha a hug.

“Sweet heart, we better go. Lee, here’s the number of my secretary. She has everything arranged for you. Give her a call and she will able to help you with the details.” Franklin handed him a piece of paper.

“Enjoy your honeymoon. Don’t worry your secret is safe with us. Bye.” They were leaving as Billy walked in.

“You, two are on the off assignment mode for two weeks.” Billy winked and smiled. “Enjoy your vacations.” He left.

Lee pulled Amanda close. “What do you say we go for a couple of days and then the boys and your mother can come down?”

“On our honeymoon?” Amanda smiled at Lee.

“I thought it was about time we tell them. I’d like to start a family and I don’t want your mother or anyone thinking that we had to get married. I want the boys to think of us as a family.”

“I love you, Mister Stetson.”

“I love you, Mrs. Stetson.”

The End
